State wants to gain extra salt from old Frisia well.

Salt Solution Mining, HARLINGEN NL, 24-12-2010 –  Thanks to the persistent winter weather, the state asks the Frisia salt plant in Harlingen to re-commission the closed borehole Sexbierum (BAS1). This way, Frisia can quickly deliver more salt. The province of Friesland is opposed because of the additional subsidence.

Various governments in the Netherlands face a shortage of salt, after a period of two weeks winter. Salt buyers are searching diligently for additional supplies around the world, because the producers in the Netherlands are at their maximum output, unless special measures will be undertaken as drilling of  already completed caverns in the deep underground.

WEP  has been Frisia’s  primary support for well project management services in the last 10 years. Within these services  are also subsidence research and feasibility studies for drilling caverns in the deep underground.
